At his death in 1986, Travadinha was just beginning to gain recognition as one of the two greatest Verdean fiddlers. His fief was the yearning, unbelievably beautiful Portuguese-influenced morna and coladeira, a bailiwick that he explored with unequalled delicacy and authenticity in these recordings, not only on violin, but cavaquinho and ten-string guitar.
